
Makara is Hull number 139 of the semi-custom Passport 470 Aft cockpit yachts manufactured by Wagner Stevens Yachts. Her construction was commissioned in March of 2006, and her design was completed in August of 2006. Construction of her hull began at the Han Sheng Yacht Building yard in Xiamen China in October, 2006 and was completed in March of 2007. Makara was then transported from Xiamen to Port Everglades Florida on container ship between March and May 2007 and then trucked to Annapolis Maryland arriving in late May.
Commissioning of Makara was completed in September and she was christened on September 22nd 2007. She made her public debut in October 2007 where she was exhibited as one of the show boats at the Annapolis U.S. Sailboat Show.
For most of 2008, Makara underwent modifications to add additional equipment required to make her suitable for the sourthern ocean.In late 2009 Makara was tested in the ocean as she rounded the three great capes of the east coast Hatteras, Lookout and Fear. Makara is currently moored in Brunswick GA and continues to undergo modifications and seatrials.
