Makara is Hull number 139 of the semi-custom Passport 470 Aft cockpit yachts manufactured by Wagner Stevens Yachts. Her construction was commissioned in March of 2006, and her design was completed in August of 2006. Consrtruction of her hull began at the Han Sheng Yacht Building yard in Xiamen China in October, 2006 and was completed in March of 2007.

Makara was then transported from Xiamen to Port Everglades Florida on container ship between March and May 2007 and then trucked to Annapolis Maryland arriving in late May.

Commissioning of Makara was completed in September and she was christened on September 22nd 2007. She made her public debut in the U.S. Sailboat Show in October.

For most of 2008, Makara underwent modifications to add additional equipment required to make her suitable for the sourthern ocean.

Makara is currently moored in Annapolis MD and continues to undergo minor modifications and extensive seatrials.
